I have taken my life into my own hands. Following that impulse and my passions gives me joy and brings me the sense I am making a contribution. We need more women to be showing you the new, young generation to go after their dreams. Be a clothing designer, be a writer, run for mayor, be a playwright that makes their audience laugh or cry.

Look what JK Rowling and her Harry Potter series created. She wrote in her kitchen and on trains, wherever and whenever she had time. She worked to reveal something, a light in her heart. She had a dream and was willing to go for it. The results were wonderful stories, millions of people, young and old, reading books, streaming and buying movies, dreaming of a magical world. There’s no doubt in my mind that many great new writers were born from these books.

My message to you is this:

• Become aware of what your heart is telling you.

• Listen to your inner voice.

• Give yourself permission to work on that and allow your heart to sing.

We are all meant to shine, and as Goethe famously said: “Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”
